Representing the highest standards of quality, efficiency and style, Hymer motorhomes is amongst the most successful caravan and motorhome manufacturers in Europe.

Hymer first began producing caravans in the 1930's and motorhomes in 1972 and has a rich history as one of the most important names in the motorhome industry.

The first motorhome or "Caravano" was prototyped in 1961 and featured an integrated toilet and washroom. By 1971 the first "Hymermobil" was developed and was marketed as a "dream on wheels". By 1973 the term "Hymermobil" was introduced and became a colloquial term for the motorhome for many consumers and members of the public. This is reflected when the word was affirmed as a standard part of the German language in 2003. Again, leading the way with technical innovation, Hymer developed the PUAL superstructure system in 1978 making their motorhomes and caravans highly strong and stable.

1980 marked an important year for the Hymer Group as it saw the merging of Hymer with Eriba which led to the incorporation of other motorhome manufacturers, most notably Dethleffs. In 1981 Hymer brought out the first alcove or coachbuilt motorhome which offered an overcab bed area. 1984 saw the 10,000th motorhome leave the assembly line. The scale of Hymer's production is reflected by the next benchmark, the 100,000th motorhome, twenty years later in 2004. The 1990's saw Hymer take over further motorhome manufacturers including Niesmann + Bischoff and Burstner.

In 1999 Hymer diversifies and announced Hymer-rent, a network of 96 rental stations across Europe allowing consumers to enjoy motorhome holidays without purchasing a vehicle. In 2005 a new type of motorhome, the "Hymer Van" was released. Based on a Ford chassis, the Hymer Van was designed to allow two passengers to enjoy a motorhome with ease. The modest price tag of €35,990 also made it highly affordable, and as a result very popular. Hymer celebrated its 50th birthday in 2007 and looks set to continue with its tradition of innovation for the next 50 years.

Today, Hymer offer 5 different motorhome types; the Car, Alcove, Semi-Integrated, Integrated and Liner models. The Hymer Car is a compact motorhome or campervan under 6m in length. Surprisingly spacious in design, the Hymer Cars sleep between 2 and 4 people and are ideal for motorhome customers who wish to travel light and efficiently. Another popular choice is the alcove motorhome which the most family-friendly product currently offered by Hymer. Known as the C-class or Camp motorhomes, they sleep between 4 and 6 people in a variety of layouts suiting all family types. The semi-integrated motorhomes, also referred to as low profile models, showcase compact design with generous living areas and fixed beds. The most luxurious motorhomes on offer from Hymer are the integrated ranges and the Hymer Liner range which place emphasis on luxury and elegance.
